The Health Information Technology accreditor of Indian Hills Community College is the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM). The College’s accreditation for Associate degree in Health Information Technology has been reaffirmed through 2029-2030. The Health Information Technology program prepares the student to become a health information technician, a specialist who is responsible for maintaining patient health information. An HIT is involved in the practice of acquiring, analyzing, and protecting digital and traditional medical information vital to providing quality patient care. It is a combination of business, science, and information technology. Health information is vital to providing high quality patient care. It’s an important job. It requires a specialist, and that specialist will be you.
Once you earn your degree, as a graduate of a CAHIIM-accredited HIT program, you will be eligible to take the national certification exam to become a Registered Health Information Technician-RHIT.
