Western Kentucky University

WKU Transfer

In continuing to build opportunities for students to achieve affordable pathways to a baccalaureate degree and beyond, Western Kentucky University (WKU) and Indian Hills Community College (IHCC) have created a transfer pathway to provide an guaranteed admission track if the admissions requirements are met for international students who graduate from Indian Hills with an Associate of Arts (AA) or an Associate of Science (AS) degree.

Participants Benefit in the following ways:

  • Students fully graduated from IHCC with an Associate of Arts degree (minimum GPA of 2.00 on a 4.0 un-weighted scale) will be considered sufficiently proficient in English, meeting WKU’s minimum TOEFL/IELTS/PTE requirements.
  • WKU will, for denied students and those international students dismissed for academic reasons from its Undergraduate programs, issue a letter informing students of IHCC as a viable pathway for continued study
  • WKU will host an on-campus visit day (local transportation & lunch inclusive) for all interested students once a year, as well as visit IHCC at least once each fall and spring
  • International students transferring from IHCC to WKU, or applying to IHCC per item two (2) above, will otherwise be subject to the terms and guidelines for admission of each institution and not be given preferential treatment with respect to the admissions process or scholarships. Students will need to adhere to the admission standards for each institution and submit any necessary admission documentation
  • WKU advisors will be available to assist international IHCC students with appropriate academic advising related to the student’s intended plan of study while at IHCC. If WKU does not have course articulations, WKU will review upon receipt of course title, description, credit hours and syllabus
  • Students who complete an associate degree containing 30 unduplicated semester credit hours of General Education (typically an Associate of Arts (AA) or an Associate of Science (AS) from a regionally accredited institution outside Kentucky are considered to have fulfilled all WKU Colonnade General Education requirements - cite
  • Students who transfer with at least a 3.00 cumulative GPA in all college-level coursework and a minimum of 24 transferable credits may be considered for transfer scholarships dependent upon funding
  • Transfer students may also receive the International Merit Scholarship, based on GPA
  • Application deadline for scholarships is the same as the application deadline for transfer students from a US institution, are non-competitive, open to all eligible students, and awarded based on received application materials
