Active Minds’ nationwide – and even international – chapters are located at more than 100 high schools and 400 colleges/universities, including more than 50 community colleges/technical schools, etc.
Each year, more than 15,000 students join an Active Minds chapter to serve as passionate advocates, stigma fighters, and educators for mental health. Each chapter is a student-led group to create a comfortable environment for conversations about mental health.
Chapters can organize campus events to increase awareness of mental health issues and suicide prevention, promote counseling center services and other organizations, (including distributing mental health resources), advocate for changes in campus policies and procedures to better support mental health, and represent the student voice. Any currently enrolled student, is welcome to join!!
As the IHCC mental health club, we will meet at least once a month to plan activities and events. Club roles include president, vice president and secretary; as well as others as annually designated. The club is sponsored by the Counseling and Prevention Resource Center (CPRC), and the club advisor is Laci Morrissey, Director, CPRC. For more information on the Active Minds Chapter, feel free to email [email protected] or call 641-683-5152.
The first Connection Event is scheduled for Wednesday, September 29th from 5 – 6:30pm in the Formal Lounge (PIT). A Taco Bar meet and greet will be from 5 – 6pm, followed by the first chapter meeting at 6pm. All are welcome to this free event! FLYER LINK
